Internship agreement questions

If an intern is doing work of real value to the organisation rather than primarily observing and learning, they are functionally a worker and should be paid. Beyond the legal question, a stipend covering transport and meals is the minimum that makes a placement accessible to people without family support.

Not if it is genuinely a fixed-term learning placement and says so. But substance beats labels: if the intern works set hours doing ordinary productive work under direction, the arrangement may be treated as employment regardless of the heading on the document.

Confidentiality terms inside the internship agreement are usually enough, and this template includes them. A separate NDA is worth it only where the intern will see something genuinely sensitive.
